A 15-year-old boy who crashed a stolen truck into the bollards in front of the doors of the main entrance to Downstream Casino early Saturday morning was caught and referred to juvenile authorities.
A Joplin officer who saw the truck run a stop sign at Seventh Street and Moffet Avenue tried to pull the vehicle over shortly before 2 a.m., but the driver fled through town and down Schifferdecker Avenue to the Greenwood area and the casino, according to police Capt. William Davis.
The driver and a passenger fled inside the casino following the crash, Davis said. The driver was nabbed, but his passenger could not be found.
Davis said the truck had been reported stolen in Carl Junction.
