VIRGINIA — Virginia stays busy. New restaurants are coming soon, fresh storefronts are nearing their grand opening, and local officials are working to bring a casino to Reston.

Reston Casino: Alcorn Seeks Answers On Authorization Process
Hunter Mill Supervisor Walter Alcorn sent a letter to County Executive Bryan Hill asking several questions about the process it would take to authorize a casino in the county. On Sept. 25, Patch reported that Comstock Companies wanted to build a casino at or near the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. Alcorn told Patch then that Comstock had not come to him about its casino plans.
Silver Diner Sets Opening Date For Second Loudoun Location
Loudoun’s newest Silver Diner restaurant is now open at the Loudoun Crossroads shopping center in Chantilly. It’s the chain’s second location in Loudoun County.
New Inova Mount Vernon Clinic Serves Uninsured, Underinsured
A new clinic focused on serving uninsured and underinsured patients in the greater Mount Vernon area is open. Inova Health System officials celebrated the Inova Cares Clinic for Families grand opening at 8101 Hinson Farm Road, Alexandria, VA.
Bunnyman Brewing Co-Owner In John Carpenter’s Bunny Man TV Feature
Those who have grown up around parts of Fairfax County have heard some version of the Bunny Man story, stemming from reported sightings around Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland. The urban legend is revisited in an episode of horror legend John Carpenter’s new “Suburban Screams” series. Bunnyman Brewing co-owner Eric Barret appeared in the episode.
Former AOL Headquarters Demolished In Sterling For New Data Center
AOL’s former headquarters is being demolished in Loudoun County. The site is being cleared for a new PowerHouse Data Center campus, a PowerHouse spokesperson told Patch. AOL operated their headquarters in Loudoun County from 1996 through 2007, when it moved its base to New York City.
T.J. Maxx To Open Relocated Store In Alexandria’s Potomac Yard
Shoppers will find discount brand name retailer T.J. Maxx at a new location at the Potomac Yard shopping center in Alexandria. T.J. Maxx is opened its new store at 3875 Richmond Highway, Suite 3. It was previously located at 3451 Richmond Highway.
Mars Headquarters Expansion Plan In McLean Recommended For Approval
The Fairfax County Planning Commission voted unanimously on Oct. 11 to recommend approval of Mars Inc.’s application to expand its headquarters in McLean. Mars’ plan includes the company’s current headquarters building at 6885 Elm Street and an adjacent property at 6867 Elm Street, purchased in 2020.
