The Ho-Chunk Nation released new images of their Beloit Casino, which will bring jobs to the Stateline region
BELOIT, Wis (WREX) — Representatives from the Ho-Chunk Nation, the City of Beloit and Visit Beloit released new renderings of the planned casino, which is currently under development.
In May of 2022, The Bureau of Indian Affairs gave its approval to place the proposed casino on 33 acres of land, for the Ho-Chunk Nation.
The casino will give two percent of its yearly revenue to the City of Beloit, which is estimated to be about $3-5 million. The city will share that with Rock Co.
“It’s big,” Beloit City Manager Jerry Gabrielatos said of the economic boost for Beloit. “It’s transformative. It helps us serve our residents and business owners even better than what we do now.”
A casino in Beloit has been talked about for more than a decade. But it appears to finally have an end in sight. The plan is to break ground this fall, and construction should take about two years to complete.
“I understand why people are frustrated,” said Collin Price, a consultant for the Ho-Chunk Nation. “This is something that’s been talked about for years. We can’t ignore that. But what I can say is that we’re actively pushing forward in the planning stages that will ultimately get us to break ground this fall.”
The decision allowed the tribe to move forward with the final design, infrastructure work and construction. There are plans for a casino, a convention center, and an 18-story hotel.

Beloit is set to receive tens of millions of dollars from the federal government to make road improvements as the city gears up for the construction of a new casino.
At the time, Vice President Karena Thundercloud told 13 WREX, “The nation, our partners, and this community have been anticipating this moment for years. There’s been some skepticism about the timeline because of the nation’s reliance on the federal processes but we’ve been confident in the project’s viability and look forward to a bright future for Beloit, the state of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation.”
The casino will be located about 25 minutes from Rockford’s Hard Rock Casino, which is slated to open later this summer. The Ho-Chunk Nation believes the area can support both casinos.
“When we think about the Rockford casino, we don’t look at it as an adversary or something that’s bad,” Price said. “In terms of the gaming market, we see our competitors elevating their game, which is how it should be. Everyone is offering a unique product and that’s what we’re trying to do here.”

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has given final approval towards the action of placing approximately 33 acres of land into trust for the Ho-Chunk Nation’s Beloit Casino project.
The Beloit Casino project is projected to bring 3,000 construction jobs to Beloit.
Once open, the entertainment destination is expected to bring 1,300 permanent full-time jobs.
