LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An investigation is underway at a southern Indiana casino after police said a Louisville rapper became the victim of a targeted homicide over the weekend.
After performing in a concert in Louisville Saturday night, LilDon Williams and his friends and family went to Caesars Southern Indiana casino, but were followed into the parking lot by a dark-colored passenger car.
Surveillance footage from the casino showed Williams arrive around 12:50 a.m. It also showed that during the three hours Williams was at the casino, no one ever got out of the passenger car.
While Williams was walking to his car to leave, two masked individuals wearing gloves and carrying a firearm got out and Williams tried to run. Police said Williams was cornered and gunned down in the parking lot before one of the suspects took his car.
Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for his car, which was described as a black and silver Dodge Charger.
This is the first homicide at the casino.
“This is an isolated incident where an individual was targeted, hunted down and executed at that business,” Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith said.
Police said there were several people in the parking lot when Williams was killed. However, police that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
On Monday, Williams’ wife and older sister gave a look at what kind of person Williams was when he was alive. He and his wife Rannisha have a 6-year-old daughter together. She said her husband was a hardworking, good man and a good father.
He had a full-time job, and was friends with everyone.
“He didn’t deserve this,” she said. “We have a 6-year-old daughter together, who I now have to prepare her that she’s not going to see him again.”
She said he was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He went to work five days a week, and would take his daughter to school and pick her up. He had a lot of goals, and was about to release his album.
“He did not deserve it,” she said. “His daughter doesn’t deserve this.”
Williams’ older sister, Erica, said that her brother lived a clean life.
“Go to work, made his music, made his clothes and took care of his daughter,” she said. “And he was with his family.”
