Several agencies responded when the threat came in late last week
New information has been released after multiple agencies responded to an explosive found at a Ponca City casino and hotel.
Several agencies responded when the threat came in late last week. The device was found in the hotel portion of the Osage Casino and Hotel, according to their general manager.
Now, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed it was an explosive, and they’re destroying it properly.

The Osage Nation Police Department posted on Facebook saying their officers, along with deputies from Osage County, responded to a possible bomb threat that was later confirmed as an explosive. The general manager, Jennifer Swords, said all hotel guests were evacuated while authorities searched the area.
Swords said they later came outside with the device.
“I actually saw them leave with two paper cups and something in the device, and at that time, the police chief told me I could go ahead and let the guests back in the room, that they had cleared everything and it was safe to go back in – and I saw him actually leave with the device,” Swords said.

KOCO 5 hasn’t been able to get any clarifying information from Osage Nation Police yet, such as if the device was connected to something else or if there are any suspects or arrests in this case.
“It is a round that is used to simulate an actual explosive device, so it’s probably – this is a little bit of speculation – but it’s probably something that has a loud flash or a bang to it to simulate a real device,” said Trooper Brack Miller, of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
KOCO 5 was told by Osage County and OHP that it was an explosive that was handed off to the OHP Bomb Team to be disposed of.
The Osage Nation Police Department said the explosive was found in someone’s luggage and that person called police to report it. Police said they don’t believe there was any malicious intent but the investigation is ongoing.
