A Louisville-based rapper was shot and killed in the parking lot of Caesars Southern Indiana Hotel & Casino around 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
LilDon Williams, 32, died while attempting to flee two people who were masked and armed with rifles, Sheriff Nick Smith said in a statement issued Monday.
According to the release, Williams, who performed under the name “Young Block,” had arrived at the casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, around 12:50 a.m. Sunday after performing at a concert in the Park Hill neighborhood Saturday night. Williams exited the casino roughly three hours later with several others, but was alone when the gunmen confronted him in the parking lot, Smith said.
After the shooting, one gunman drove off in Williams’ car, a black and silver 2013 Dodge Charger, while the other drove away in the car they had arrived in.
“It is believed that Williams targeted by the masked individuals, followed to the business and executed for reasons unknown at this time,” Smith said, adding the incident is considered to be an “isolated event.”
Prior to Sunday, there had never been a homicide at the casino in its 25-year history, Smith said.
Indiana State Police and the Indiana Gaming Commission assisted with the investigation.
Anyone with information about Williams’ death or the location of his vehicle is asked to reach the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department at 812-738-3911.
