Jury selection is underway for the upcoming trial of two men accused of robbing Soboba Casino in August 2007.
Rolando Luda Ramos, 27, and Eric Allen Magdaleno Aguilera, 25, both of Hemet, worked at the casino when they allegedly tied up three victims in the casino surveillance room. Ramos used pepper spray on one victim and pointed a gun at seven victims in the vault before fleeing with more than $1 million, prosecutors said.
Aguilera is believed to have acted as the getaway driver during the heist.
Ramos and Aguilera are both charged with false imprisonment, burglary, three counts of kidnapping for robbery and seven counts of robbery.
Opening statements in the two-jury trial are scheduled to start Monday morning at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
Two co-defendants in the case – Sonya Marie Boyorquez, 25, of Corona; and Ricky Davis Aban, 21, of Carson – pleaded guilty in September 2007 to being accessories after the fact and were each sentenced to 180 days in county jail and three years of probation.
