Famed restaurant personality Guy Fieri is bringing a restaurant to Columbus, pending city approvals.
According to building permits filed with the city, a Guy Fieri restaurant could be coming to the Eldorado Scioto Downs casino and race track.
The casino’s buffet space would be renovated to create a new, almost 9,000-square-foot restaurant seating more than 100.
The new restaurant would join the existing Brew Brothers brewpub at the casino, according to the plans.
Scioto Downs operator Caesars Entertainment has not responded to questions about the project. There is no indication of the concept, though there is a dedicated pizza and pasta prep area noted on the floor plans.
Fieri’s name adorns many restaurant brands, including Flavortown Kitchen, Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar, Chicken Guy, Guy Fieri’s Highball Lounge, Guy Fieri’s Dive + Taco Joint, Guy Fieri’s Pizza Parlor, Guy’s Bar-B-Que Joint and more.
The documents refer to the project only as “Guy Fieri Restaurant” or “Guy Fieri Scioto Downs.”
But smart money would be on Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen, since that brand already has multiple casino locations.
Fieri, who was born in Columbus, has another recent local partnership of note as well.
He’s teamed up with local apparel brand Homage on a new line of T-shirts called the NFL x Flavortown Collection that pairs each of the 32 NFL teams with a local dish of fame like Cincinnati-style chili coney dog for the Bengals or the Polish Boy for the Browns.
Sports and media blog Awful Announcing chatted with Homage Founder and CEO Ryan Vesler this week about the partnership.
“Guy is obviously one-of-a-kind, and we both share a passion for digging deep to uncover unique stories,” Vesler said. “Guy has an extreme love of food and football–and these two things really are symbiotic — so it made complete sense for us to partner on the NFL x Flavortown collection.”
