Colista Matsaw selected as Chief Executive Officer of the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel – Idaho State Journal

FORT HALL — The Shoshone-Bannock tribes have announced that a new CEO has been selected for the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel.
According to a news release from the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, the new CEO is a tribe member named Colista Matsaw. She officially started her new position on May 23.
Chairman Lee Juan Tyler said in the news release that Matsaw has 25 years of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry that will be valuable to her in her new role.
“She embodies a commitment to excellence, innovation and honoring tribal heritage,” he said in the news release. “We are pleased that we have a Tribal member that has succeeded in her educaitonal efforts and exceeds the necessary experience to be successful for our Tribes.”
Matsaw has a bachelor’s in hospitality and casino management and a master’s in business administration. Her career in the gaming industry started Sandia Casino in New Mexico where she worked as a Keno Runner.
She has worked in several different roles with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Gaming Operations, including executive hotel director and gaming machine director.
In addition to her work with the casino hotel, Matsaw has operated a consulting business. She also served as a Statewide Business Advisor for the Idaho Women’s Business Center’s Idaho Connect Program. She has also worked as a programs coordinator with the Oweesta Corporation, which is a Native-owned, non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving indigenouscommunities across the country.
Matsaw said in the news release that she is honored to have been selected for this position. She believes that the casino has what it takes to reach its next level of success.
“I am eager to step into this role and lead an amazing organization for the benefit of my Tribe, community members and Indian Country,” she said in the news release.
