BRISTOL, Va. — The Bristol Casino, future home of Hard Rock, just recorded its second highest month for adjusted gaming revenues since opening.
For the month of May, the temporary Bristol Casino reported $12.4 million in adjusted gaming revenue — wagers minus winnings — from its 891 slot machines and $3.05 million from table games, for a total of $15.46 million, according to a new report from the Virginia Lottery, which oversees casino gaming in the Commonwealth.
Revenues from slots were about $1 million above the casino’s $11.4 million monthly average reported during the first four months of 2024, lottery figures show.
Revenues from table games were up about 45%, or about $1.4 million more compared to the casino’s $2.09 million monthly average during the first four months of 2024.
That is an average of $498,800 per day during May.
Its single highest month was in March, when the Bristol Casino reported $16.27 million in total adjusted gaming revenue.
Five months into the year, the Bristol Casino has reported $58 million in adjusted gaming revenue from slots and over $13 million from table games, lottery figures show.
The casino paid out over $31.66 million in jackpots to its guests through the first quarter of 2024, according to a May 1 report to the Virginia Lottery Board. Since opening in July 2022, that figure was more than $203.93 million.
Figures from Bristol’s sportsbook operations are included as part of the state’s monthly sports wagering report.
Statewide, Virginia’s three operating casinos reported $62.74 million in total adjusted gaming revenues. Individually, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, reported $26.99 million in total AGR, with about $18.6 million from slots and $8.4 million from table games.
The temporary Caesars Virginia casino in Danville reported $20.28 million in total revenue, including $14.71 million from slots and $5.57 million from table games.
The state received nearly $11.3 million in gaming tax revenue in May.
Bristol generated $2.78 million in Virginia gaming tax revenue, which was also the second highest month since opening in July 2022, lottery figures show.
That includes over $927,700 – also the second highest single month since opening — which will be evenly divided among 14 Southwest Virginia localities.
The Bristol Casino has paid nearly $13 million in gaming tax revenue through the first five months of this year and over $55 million since the property opened nearly two years ago.
Portsmouth generated $4.85 million in gaming tax during May with the city of Portsmouth retaining $1.6 million. Danville’s casino generated $3.65 million, with the host city keeping $1.21 million, lottery figures show.
