WABENO, Wis. (WJFW) — He might want to “Rock and Roll All Nite,” but Gene Simmons wants you to stay for a while. The KISS band member was in Wabeno today to open his newest Rocks & Brews location. The restaurant chain has 25 locations with the addition of this location in the Potawatomi Casino and Hotel Carter.
“If I greet you badly at the front door, that’s not going to be a fun experience,” Simmons said. “I’m not going to serve you leftover food. It’s going to be fresh and we’re going to take care that it’s memorable — the same way I’d feed my family.”
This is the second Rocks & Brews at a Potawatomi Casino. The first one is in Milwaukee, Wis.
“We’ve been partnering to bring the two properties together and we love this up north experience,” said Dominic Ortiz, the CEO of Potawatomi Casino and Hotel. “We think that fits well with rock and roll.”
The partnership between the casino and Simmons is based on a strong relationship. Simmons photo-bombed our interview with Potawatomi Casino and Hotel general manager Leigh Redington.
“I’m not used to that,” Redington said. “There’s the partnership.”
“These folks have treated us kindly and brought us into their family,” Simmons said. “It begins and ends there. If we didn’t get along there’s no reason to do business.”
Doing business meant working together on the design of the restaurant. There are 15 televisions showing music videos from classic rock and roll songs, themed artwork on the walls and platinum vinyl records on the floor by the bar. The menu includes everything from salads to burgers.
“The Rock & Brews team did a great job of really understanding this community and incorporating the Forest County Potawatomi elements into the design of the environment,” Redington said.
