The internet is a great tool for information, for discovery, for knowledge and for news. However, one demerit of social media and the internet is that increased number of hoaxes starts going viral online and people get trapped in believing news that is actually a cock-and-bull story and a pack of lies. Death hoaxes are actually almost every day’s fodder; every now and then we hear some news of a celebrity death which turns out to be rumour and nothing else. This time another great hoax is doing the rounds of the internet which is widely being shared by people on social media for the only reason that people would love to say “I told you so” or probably “This is what happens”. A media report of a Saudi Prince losing $350 million and 5 of his wives in 6 hours at a casino is doing the rounds but fortunately for him this is a hoax as no such thing happened according to verified sources.
Trending Now
like Prince Majed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who has been named in the media story as losing $350 million and 5 of his wives in 6 hours in a gambling bout at a casino. He is said to be well-known around the world for both his drug and gambling habits and had to give up his wives. However, the news would have been really shocking if it hadn’t been for the reality that Prince like Prince Majed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been dead since 2003. The website World News Daily Report is the media house that published this piece of news and it is a well known hoax website which specializes in posting hoaxes and made up stories. The disclaimer on their website illustrates this fact but you will have to scroll way down the page to find it.
World News Daily Report’s disclaimer reads, “World News Daily Report assumes all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any person, living, dead or undead, is purely a miracle.”
The hoax story is being widely shared on social media and on Whatsapp as the article plays on the stereotype and popular belief of people that Arabs disrespect women and treat them as property/slaves. However, now that you know the truth do not fall prey to such false news.
