Comedians and actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are coming to Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland on Wednesday, Nov. 8 as part of their Restless Legs Tour.
Tickets for the show start at $75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at yaamava.com. The event at the casino which promises to “celebrate their 30 years of friendship with an evening of jokes, iconic stories and conversational entertainment,” is the only date in California that has been announced.
Fey and Poehler met in the Chicago improv scene in the ’90s and were part of the city’s comedy troupe, The Second City. Fey later worked as a writer at “Saturday Night Live” under director, producer and screenwriter Adam McKay. After McKay’s departure, she replaced him as head writer becoming the show’s first female head writer in the show’s history.
A few years later, Fey helped recruit Poehler to the show where she was promoted from featured player to full cast member, making her the second cast member and first woman to earn this distinction. Fey and Poehler later became the first female co-anchors of the show’s faux news segment, “Weekend Update.”
In addition to their work on “Saturday Night Live,” the duo have also shared the screen in comedies like “Mean Girls,” “Baby Mama” and “Sisters” and have each spearheaded their own sitcom series with Fey’s “30 Rock” and Poehler’s “Parks and Recreation.”
